Alison Leber wore many hats. She was a cheese enthusiast and a supporter of family farms, and she shared her love for these things with everyone she met. Education about delicious cheese and its producers was one of her life missions. She wanted everyone to have the opportunity to attend a workshop at Quillisascut Farm, to connect with the land and build community around the farmer’s table. In an effort to honor her legacy, the Quillisascut Education Fund (QEF) has started the Alison Leber Memorial Scholarship Fund in her memory. Donations will enhance scholarship opportunities, so more people can share in this farm school experience that Alison loved so dearly. You can make a donation in her honor via the link below which will direct you to our secure online donation platform, Givebutter. QEF is registered as a 501(c)3. All donations are tax deductible.
DONATE TO THE ALISON LEBER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Quillisascut Farmers (Rick and Lora Lea Misterly) met Alison in 1992 when she purchased Brie and Bordeaux. It was always a celebration to deliver our cheese to the specialty cheese and wine shop. We were greeted with big smiles and support for anything new (and old) in our cheese selections. She encouraged my Lora Lea’s curiosity for playing with different styles of cheese and having a place to share them with her customers.
In more recent years, Alison would visit Quillisascut Farm and help with the culinary workshops. She was always in motion, a steady hand in shepherding the program and students. Her smiling presence made everything better. In her heart she was a farmer! And she had a big heart for sharing her love. Twice she hosted fundraisers at Brimmer & Healtap for QEF. She wanted everyone to have the opportunity to attend a workshop at Quillisascut, to connect with the land, and to build community around the farmers table.
We are beyond heartbroken to have lost such a vibrant member of our food and farming community. In an effort to honor her legacy, QEF and a group of friends have started the Alison Leber Memorial Scholarship Fund in her memory. Donations will enhance scholarship opportunities, so more people can share this farm school experience that Alison loved so dearly.
